Monogatari Opening Analysis #7 – Marshmellow Justice

I’m back for another Monogatari Opening Analysis! In case you missed it, you can find the last analysis here.

Marshmellow Justice! Anyone remember this opening? I know I didn’t! Well, I remembered the song but not the actual opening animation. I think the reason for this is that Marshmellow Justice / Karen Bee doesn’t have a lot going on in the animation – or so it seems at first glance. Maybe we will dig up some hidden nuggets of information planted in the opening! You just never know.

I always go into these openings thinking that there isn’t much there, and have been surprised many times now. Let’s see what’s up with Marshmellow Justice!

Monogatari Opening Analysis #6 – Futakotome

It’s time to move onto Nisemonogatari openings, starting with Futakotome. If you missed the last opening analysis, you can find it here!

I seem always feel this way going into an opening, but this time it’s for real – Futakotome does not have very much symbolism. When you consider that this is a Senjougahara opening, despite majority of Nisesmonogatari being focused on Araragi’s little sisters Karen & Tsukihi, I guess it makes sense. Senjougahara plays a role in this season of Monogatari, but it’s a minor one for the most part.

If I recall correctly this opening only shows in a couple of episodes.

Anyways might as well see if we can find anything interesting in Futakotome!

Monogatari Opening Analysis #4 – Ren’ai Circulation

All right! It’s time for the 4th Monogatari Opening, Ren’ai Circulation. Not gonna lie I’m more than happy to watch this opening over and over for the song, and the opening animation itself is great as well. In case you missed the last opening analysis, you can find it here. I just realized that I forgot to embed the opening for Ambivalent World in the last post! Sorry about that.

There’s no way I could write a post about Ren’ai Circulation without giving you all the video, so here it is:

You may have heard the song for this one before. It was pretty popular for remixes and memes back in the day. I love the bell / chime sounds in the song.

And with that out of the way, let’s analyze the opening for Nadeko Snake – Ren’ai Circulation.

Monogatari Opening Analysis #3 – Ambivalent World

Up next in the Monogatari Openings is Ambivalent World. If you missed the last post you can check it out here. Ambivalent World is both an interesting and not interesting opening. I feel like it’s a very simple opening, compared to many other Monogatari openings. There is some symbolism, but at the same time I feel like this opening is pretty easy to decipher. It’s a straightforward opening.

So let’s go ahead break down Ambivalent World.

Monogatari Opening Series Analysis #2 – Kaerimichi

It’s time for another Monogatari Opening Series Analysis! If you missed the first one, you can find it here. This is the series where I dig deep into Monogatari openings to analyze the symbolism contained within them. It’s possible that I take the analysis further than the anime would have intended though!

For opening #2 we have Kaerimichi – Hachikuji’s first opening.
Here is the opening on youtube:

Monogatari Opening Analysis #1 – Staple Stable

First up in my analysis of the Monogatari openings is Staple Stable. Something I noticed when making my list of the best Monogatari opening songs was that the openings on Monogatari are actually very deep, and contain a lot of symbolism. Or maybe they don’t and I am just reading too far into this. Either way it’s actually pretty interesting stuff.

I decided I will do one opening per post, so I can milk this series of posts for all it’s worth 🙂 In all honesty, some openings have more content to analyze than others, and I think that even if some of these posts end up being on the short side that’s fine too. So enjoy this series as I dive way too deep into analysis of the Monogatari openings!
